Partly Gold Plated Manjushree Statue from Nepal, 8"

Manjushree is the Bodhisattva who holds the flaring sword of illumination by his left hand in a notice hand signal in his left hand addressing his acknowledgment of insight to slice through obliviousness and wrong view.

His right hand portrayed in instructing (Jnana Mudra) holds the stem of a Blue Lotus (Utpala) bloom whereupon rests the Book (Pustaka) of Perfection of Transcendental Wisdom. The blue lotus is an image of the triumph of the soul over the faculties and connotes the astuteness of information. This addresses the lotus that he acquired from the center of the lake in the Kathmandu Valley out of which grew a lotus bearing a Blue Flame which addresses astuteness.

Protecting the Face
As the face is painted it is highly recommended that the face of the statue is to be greatly taken care of as it requires a very professional and skilled face artist to repair the face of dirt and damages. Commonly to protect it from damage the statue with painted face is placed under a glass box and it is always covered with a cotton face mask if it has to be moved
