Tara (Tara Bodhisattva) is a Buddha whose faith is as popular as Kannon Bodhisattva and Monju Bodhisattva in various regions where esoteric Buddhism was propagated, such as India, Tibet, Mongolia, Nepal, and China. Tara means "eye" in Sanskrit. It is said that the lotus flower bloomed from the tears that Kannon Bodhisattva shed because he could not save all sentient beings, and was born from the flower.
