Vajra Sandalwood Rope Incense - Set of 6

This is a traditional Newari incense called Dhupaya. It is made traditionally using many precious Aromatic Himalayan Herbs. The finely powdered form of the herbs are wrapped in the thin strip of Lokta Paper and twined forming a knotting stick.

Burning Sandalwood incense is an important ritual in all major Hindu and Buddhist traditions, but the purpose and symbolism of incense are slightly different for each tradition. In Buddhism, incense acts as an offering to Buddhas, or enlightened ones, as well as a symbol for various aspects of Buddhist belief and an aid to positive thoughts and actions.
