The shape of the stupa itself symbolizes Buddha. It's like the image of Buddha wearing a crown and sitting on a lion pedestal, meditating. Normally, Stupa is a hill-shaped building that houses the remains of Buddha or other holy beings, called sarira. A stupa is a really, really old Buddhist structure, but at first it was just a hill roughly made of dirt or mud to cover the Buddha's relics. After the Buddha passed away, his body was cremated, and the relics were divided and placed under eight stupas.

Stupas built in places like Sarnath and Sanchi seem to have evolved from their simple hill-shaped beginnings into more magnificent and ornate ones.

This stupa is crowned as brass gajur and inlaid with three gemstones and Lotus designed wooden base.
