Masterpiece Buddhist Lord Padmapani Lokeshwor Statue from Nepal
Masterpiece Buddhist Lord Padmapani Lokeshwor Statue from Nepal
The hand-carved sculpture of bodhisattva Padmapani Lokeshwor who embodies the compassion of all Buddhas. The Lokeshwor stands in a gracious posture, the body beautifully counterbalanced. He holds his raised hand in the gesture of exposition (vitarka mudra).
The elegant aesthetics of this sculpture embodies contemporary eastern Indian Pala styles, yet it displays a startling elegance combined with an almost austere economy of surface decoration: jewelry is restrained, textile patterns minimally suggested. The scale is exceptional, as is the aesthetic sensibility of the artist responsible for this work.
All our statues are handmade. Each piece is unique and it is impossible to reproduce exactly the same. Slight differences may therefore appear in the shapes, proportions, colors and materials used in our descriptions and specification sheets.
